Possibly the most cost effective and affordable schooling option in Australia, Government Schooling is fully funded by the Australian Government and is the most popular option in Australia. Offering Primary and High Schools they will always be separate. There will nearly always be a Primary School in each suburb and a High School in each council or shire district area.

Public School students have the same opportunities of those attending a Private or Independent School. The same subjects are available as well as offering specific classes for those wanting to enter the work force, TAFE or University after completion of Year 12.
